October Parent Note 2025
Community, Connection, and the Helpers All Around Us !
Comunidad, conexión y los Ayudantes que nos Rodean!
This month, we’re learning about the everyday heroes who help keep our communities strong. From doctors to firefighters, children will explore what it means to help others and how even little hands can make a big difference through stories, play, and hands-on learning.
Curriculum Focus
Community Helpers: People who help us- Ayudantes comunitarios: personas que nos ayudan
- Week 1: What is a community helper?
- Week 2: Community Helper: Doctor/Dentist
- Week 3: Community Helper: Police Officer
- Week 4: Community Helper: Firefighters
- Week 5: Community Helper: Teachers
As we explore these helpers, we’ll build vocabulary, empathy, and awareness through songs, books, dress-up, and more!
Zoo-Phonics & Alphabetic Knowledge
This month, we’re learning all about the next set of alphabet friends: D, E, and F!
Using Zoo-Phonics, children will explore each letter through fun animal characters, matching sounds, and movement-based learning. Whether they’re pretending to dig with Deedee Deer, flapping like Ellie Elephant, or flying with Francie Fish, your child is building sound awareness, vocabulary, and early literacy skills—all through joyful, active play.
Keep an ear out… you might just hear the alphabet coming to life at home!

Spooktacular Trick-or-Treat
Get ready for a frightfully fun afternoon! We’re celebrating Halloween on Friday, October 31st from 2:00–3:00 PM, and you’re invited to join the fun. Children can bring their costumes in their backpacks and get ready for an afternoon full of tricks, treats, and giggles.
From superheroes and princesses to dinosaurs and favorite storybook characters, our little learners will go trick-or-treating from classroom to classroom, collecting treats and enjoying playful activities with friends. Families are invited to join us—don’t forget your cameras to capture the memories! Please note: IJAK will close at 3:00 PM on this day.

Calling All Community Helpers!
This month, our theme is “Helpers Around Us”, and we would love to invite real community helpers to share their time and stories with our children. If you are a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, doctor, nurse, or work in another helping role, we’d be thrilled to have you visit our classrooms.
Volunteering can be as simple as stopping by to show your uniform, share about your job, and answer a few curious questions from our little learners. It’s a wonderful way to inspire children and help them see how helpers make a difference every day.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, please reach out to (726)215-8874 for more details.
Thank You for Being Part of Our Community
As we talk about community helpers in the classroom, we’re also grateful for the helpers in our own school community, you. Thank you for your partnership, your support, and the many ways you show up for your child and our program.
